In 1986, I attended my first dog show in Goshen, Ct. There I met the most beautiful dog I'd ever seen. She was a very red Belgian Tervuren. Her name was Joyeur, she was an adult, and she was for sale. I had just lost my last dog, and was not planning on having any more. The children were all out of the house. We were free. Why clutter up the neatness and schedules, and free time[doing what I'm not sure]. Anyway, Joy ran toward me, I knelt down and she stuck her head under my elbow and I was hooked. The only problem was I had to leave to go off in the distance to mourn again. So, a dog was not coming into my life until I had dealt with the grief of losing the last one. The house was being remodeled. I had no time. But Joy had struck a nerve, and when I heard that Gail Cooper in Florida had a show bitch with a championship on her already, I had to call and inquire. It would take another month or two before I gave in to the realization that I needed this dog [Gail cleverly sent me pictures...just gorgous!!!}. So, Ch. Bilgay's Dark Mystery flew from Jacksonville to Bradley Airport, and my life in the obedience ring and life with sheep began. Mystery changed the course. We bred her to Ch Glenoak Eclair for Maplewood, CD, HT,BAR..."Riot" and "Mist" produced the well known litter including 7 champions of Fergie and Cody, and we were on our way. The rest is history. | |||||||
| There have been many achievements along the way as well as meeting some of the best people in the world. Here I give credit to my breeder Gail Cooper who started me off with a gorgous bitch, and never let me give up. I also pay respects to a fiesty lady named Pinky Johnson, who taught me that temperament is paramount and structure is a reality. There are many others who have helped me along the way. The Bouffards played a role, Judy Bradley also played a role, Dana Mackonis has been a friend and helper, and there are judges whose opinion counts when one of your dogs is in the ring. There have been wonderful seminars given by handlers, nutritions seminars, training seminars, educational seminars, health seminars, how to pick puppy seminars. You name it there is a seminar for it...whatever the topic, and these people need to be heard. The ones who think they have learned everything there is to know about showing, breeding, training etc. are the losers. So, Thank you Gail for my "Mist", who opened my world to this topsey tervy breed!!! I hope you enjoy the site and the dogs. Feel free to email me with your opinions or questions.
